Abstract

The National Agency for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (ANATER) is the body responsible for implementing rural extension policy in Brazil. Its performance, however, has been subject to criticism. In light of Bordenave’s theorization that communication must be linked to the participatory process in order to be effective, this text proposes an analysis of ANATER’s website and its profile on the social media platform Instagram, aiming to identify whether these channels are being used to implement rural extension initiatives through institutional communication.
