Abstract

This article examines the Salão de Fotografia de Pernambuco, funded by Funcultura – Pernambuco’s Cultural Incentive Fund (Fundarpe), under the Photography line. The initiative gathered photographers from the Agreste, Sertão and Zona da Mata, decentralizing cultural production and advancing local visual narratives. Grounded in Díaz Bordenave and in counter-visuality, the project integrated the exhibition into Photography courses, aligning theory and practice. Results point to the strength of university extension in fostering critical education, valuing cultural diversity and reframing territory.
