Abstract

This text draws on articles published by Compós and a survey by Emater/RS-Ascar to identify the circulation and consumption of information by rural youth. The analysis shows that the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) has grown and that traditional and new media coexist. The contribution of Latin American communication theorists leads us to reflect critically and conclude that mediatization impacts how young people communicate and reveals hybridizations, new identity formations, and geographical and symbolic boundaries, reorienting modes of reading, perception, language, sociability, and knowledge production.
