Abstract

The general aim of this article is to identify how Brazilian public universities have contributed to the democratization of science through communication strategies such as science journalism. To do this, we analyzed 109 websites using 25 markers. Of this total, only 46 universities had any space for science topics or specific science journalism channels. However, the results show a very clear practice of defending science and the search for greater proximity to the public in order to increase access to scientific information and, ultimately, the exercise of citizenship.
